A common debate amongst plumbers and professionals alike is to where best to position a radiator.

Well we have the facts here!!!

Generally,  it is always best to fit radiators beneath the windows of a room.  There are 2 main reasons for this

1)
Warm air that rises form the radiator and balances with the cold air from the window which ultimately circulates warm air.  If you fit the radiator on the opposite wall will result in a cool draught as the warm rising air with the cool air falling creates a cool air flow around the room.

2)
Generally, the window area of the room does not tend to have furniture against it, therefore the radiator is not covered allowing the warm to circulate.

Double glazing has helped dramatically in recent years with draughts around windows, so the extent of cool air is reduced.  Do not position shelves immediately above radiators as this prevents the warm air from rising.
